First Teaser Trailer for BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

Warner Bros. has released the first teaser trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and I feel a little underwhelmed. With that being said, I know this is only a teaser for a movie that is still 11 months from being released so I will do my best to treat it as such.

Some thoughts:

1. This looks dark, really dark - but that may be ok. Introducing a Batman that is older, grizzled, and worn down from years of battling the streets is really appealing to me. Who will he be? Will he still live by the ideals he set forth when he was young? Is he the symbol he set out to be? Where it may not work is in regards to Superman. We're told that the Man of Steel will be the main character in this movie, and Superman doesn't thrive in a dark environment. He's bright, a ray of hope. Take those things away from his movie and who is he?

2. Ben Affleck looks great. And HUGE. Did you see that shot of him in costume coming out of the shadows? Affleck is 6'5"and it's clear he took his physical preparedness seriously. He's come a long way over the years, I have faith in Ben for a good Batman/Bruce Wayne.

3. Junkie XL has had an interesting influence on the music from what can be heard here...while Hans Zimmer is staying on to score it as well, it sounds like they heavy percussive mix we've heard countless times before. The soundtrack to Man of Steel was absolutely one of my favorites in recent years, let's hope some of that musical magic hasn't been lost.

4. Things are going to be hard for Superman. After the devastation he left upon Metropolis, it's understandable why people would either flock to or flee from him. Apparently Lex and Bruce are working together to bring down Supes, that is until I'm sure Bruce uncovers what Lex's true motivations are -- could there be a General Zod body stashed somewhere, waiting to be resurrected by Lex? Time will tell...

5. DC isn't looking back. With 10 films slated now through 2020, they've got a stacked deck. Let's hope this sets a great tone for the films to follow.
